Ingredients:
- 2c all purpose wheat flour
- 1 3/4c sugar
- 1/2c unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 Tbs sodium free baking soda
- 2/3c natural/unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 c fat-free or low-fat buttermilk
- 2 Tbs olive or vegetable oil
- 3/4 c Dr. Pepper soda pop
- 1, 20 oz, can lite cherry pie filling
- Spray a 9x13" pan with nonstick cooking spray, dust w/flour & shake out excess.
- In a lg bowl mix dry ingredients.
- Stir applesauce, buttermilk & oil into dry ingredients.
- In a small saucepan heat soda pop until carbonation is gone.
- Stir Dr. Pepper into the batter to form a thin mixture.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Top with pie filling & slice into 15 squares.
- Serve warm with a cold glass of milk.
